Junior football at the Tauranga Blue Rovers is focussed on giving young footballers the opportunity to develop their individual football skills in a fun and safe environment.
Junior Football (mixed boys and girls)
G8 | Discovery Phase
The focus of the Discovery Phase is:
- Children’s enjoyment (being included, safe to make mistakes, praise)
- Developing fundamental movement skills, agility and strength (running, jumping, turning).
- Growing children’s confidence with a football (lots of time with a ball and opportunities to succeed).
G 9-12 | Skill Acquisition Phase
The focus of the Skill Acquisition Phase is on developing individual football skills including striking the ball, receiving the ball, 1v1, travelling with the ball, pressing, marking, intercepting, tackling, movement and communication.
Winter pre-season
Winter pre-season is a 4 week programme for kids aged 9 and older to reconnect with football, have fun and get some touches on the ball. Places are limited.
Mondays at Pemberton Park for 4 weeks (13th February, 20th February, 27th February and 6th March).
- G9/10 4.30pm to 5.30pm
- G11/12 5.30pm to 6.30pm
- G13+ 6.30pm to 7.30pm

Team Formation
Tauranga Blue Rovers Football Club, Otumoetai Football Club, Tauranga City Amateur Football Club and Papamoa Football Club are following New Zealand Football’s ‘Balance is Better’ guidelines to team formation. The purpose of this approach is to put what keeps children and young people enthusiastic and engaged, at the heart of the sport.
When registering your child or young person, please ensure you complete the sections asking about your child's past team, their school and friends.
Last day for junior and youth registrations: Friday 17th March
Junior and youth muster: Sunday 26th March

This includes football registrations for the season, use of a shirt will be provided, team photo and coaching.
The above fees are the Club Registration fees for the season and are payable upon registration.
Our club offers a discounted rate for the second and subsequent children (brothers and sisters) from the same family playing for the club. Full registration must be paid for the oldest child in the family, but the discount per subsequent child can be claimed by using the “Add another Player” function on our registration platform – Friendly Manager. The discount per family member is $35 (this does not apply to First Kicks Players).
