Walking Football Tauranga

Walking Football is a unique small-sided ball game created by John Croot in 2011.

In many ways walking football is just like playing football in the good ole' days. All the experience and knowledge you have will come back. It's a great way to keep active for anyone wanting something a bit different!

What's the difference to football?

As the name suggests, only walking (as opposed to running) is allowed in this unique game, this includes while you are on the ball and off the ball. Additionally it is a complete non-contact sport, however tackling is allowed so long as it stays non-contact.

There are many benefits for those wanting to keep fit later in life:

  • Slow pace
  • Non-contact
  • Low impact
  • Keep fit and active
  • Reduced risk of injury

What will it look like?

We are just starting to spread the word and gauge an interest to see if the community would enjoy this new format. We will start by meeting regularly and setting up teams and games on a weekly basis.

Who is it for?

Walking football is aimed at men and women 50+ or those with injuries that prevent them from being able to play football.

Musters (get together) will be held at Moreland Fox Park:

6th and 13th May at 6pm
